We invite you to the next National Day School of the Revolutionary Communists of Ireland – Ireland: From Conquest to Re-conquest – on 17 October in the Teacher’s Club, Parnell Square West. The purpose of the school will be to arm the next generation of revolutionaries in the struggle for a Socialist United Ireland with the rich lessons of Irish history.

The first session will be Oliver Cromwell and the Conquest of Ireland. We will discuss how England not only subjugated Ireland politically, but also carried out a transformation in social relations in order to render Ireland wholly dependent on it.
The second session will be on The United Irishmen and the 1798 Rebellion. The great democratic revolutions in America and France served as a shining point of reference for Irish revolutionaries such as Wolfe Tone, Thomas Russell and Jemmy Hope. The United Irishmen should be remembered not just for being brave martyrs of the republican cause, but above all for their advanced democratic and internationalist ideas that continue to inspire Irish revolutionaries to this day.
Finally, we will conclude with a session titled Is a United Ireland inevitable? Speaking about the prospect of a United Ireland during his recent visit to Dublin, Donald Trump said, “It’s going to happen eventually. It may as well happen now.” And yet, more than four years after Sinn Féin became the most-voted party in the North of Ireland, a border poll seems as distant as ever before. We will look back at the ideas of James Connolly and the history of the Good Friday Agreement to draw out the key lessons for the struggle against partition today.
